Cleva Inetum, Zaion, INESE and Celent have participated in the “Semana del Seguro 2022” attending a conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence improves management and interaction with customers”.

Cleva Inetum had the pleasure of participating in “Semana del Seguro“, between 15 and 17 February of 2022, which is the major event for professionals of the insurance sector in Spain.

On this occasion, Cleva Inetum, Zaion, and Celent joined their skills to present a workshop on the theme: “How Artificial Intelligence can transform the future of the insurance industry”.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) leverages the change for insurers to automate processes, take decisions faster and gain efficiency. This way, they can overcome the challenge of dealing with more volatile and demanding policyholders who are constantly searching for new personalised and competitive services. Thus, Rodolphe Peim, Head of International Insurance and Finance Software, set the pace for the beginning of the session.

Luis Carlos Tristán, Insurance Business Unit Director at Inetum Spain, Juan Mazzini, Senior Sector Analyst at Celent, and Bertrand Delort, Zaion Country Manager for Iberia and Latam, discussed how AI marks the agenda of an industry, such as insurance, which relies on the potential of this technology to obtain a key competitive advantage (AI represents 41% of the projects of this the sector). AI enables the insurers to create unique experiences for customers. It can be applied in the entire value chain; everything from claims to underwriting, risk selection to fraud prevention can be impacted, streamlined and optimised. Costs are reduced, but risks are also mitigated, and revenues are increased, mostly because of the interaction and the improvement of the customer experience.

However, it is important to understand that AI is used to assist and not replace humans. The focus should be on the “improved insurer” rather than the “algorithmic insurer”. A good use of technology means a better insurance company, and the collaboration with InsurTech will play an important role for this purpose. Luis Carlos Tristán even emphasized that if there is an investment, there will be a return.

There are four necessary components to successfully implement AI: company culture (perhaps the most difficult to change), data (organising information), skills and, of course, tools.

In this regard, a use case was presented during the session (the management of a car accident) of how to use and integrate Cleva and Zaion applications (focused on conversational topics), providing a global solution for “low added value processes”. The claim was reported and resolved in a few seconds through this conversational application.

Óscar Sánchez, Commercial Director of Inetum, concluded that automation leads to productivity gains, increases the company’s capabilities, and allows the generation of advanced models.
